Attendance and Holidays
At Stoke Lodge Primary School we know how important attending school every day is for our pupils. We are passionate about supporting you and your child with learning and arriving on time to school everyday is instrumental to achieving this.
Attending school on time and every day helps children develop positive habits and routines. It is crucial that we work in partnership to achieve this. We want your child to flourish with their learning, have access to enrichment clubs, develop positive relationships with their friends and adults and enjoy all aspects of school life on a daily basis.
A sense of belonging is instrumental in helping your child to feel safe, secure and happy. Being at school and maintaining relationships with friends and adults is very important to this and we work hard to help our pupils enjoy being part of our SLP family. Our ‘Gem Powers’ underpin all of our teaching and learning and these are the tools that set members of our SLP families apart to succeed and enjoy life and ‘Stay Curious.’
We are very lucky to have Mrs James as our Attendance Lead and she is available to help with any concerns about your child’s attendance. Mrs James may also phone or write to you inviting you to a meeting to discuss attendance if we become concerned. We can also support with a return to school after a period of absence to ensure your child settles back to school life as quickly as possible.
At Stoke Lodge we will:
Work in partnership to offer support to pupils and parents
Encourage pupils to attend school every day and be punctual
Monitor every child’s attendance and invite parents to come and meet with us if necessary
Monitor unauthorised absence and take appropriate action
We ask parents/carers to:
Work in partnership with us and approach school if they need advice or support
Support us by communicating absence on the school absence line daily
Completing the planned absence request form
Encouraging positive habits around attendance with your child
In June 2023, we were delighted to be involved in the Olympus Academy Trust’s attendance campaign “In School Together”.
If you don’t follow us already on social media , please add us to your profile as this is where we will posting information about the campaign as well.
Where any parent or carer has concerns about their child’s attendance, we really want to hear from you so that we can work together to reduce absence from school. We know that for some children, returning to school and the routine of learning has been more difficult- please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
The school no longer authorises any holiday during term time. Please be aware if absence is taken after being refused, it will be classed as an unauthorised absence. Please be aware this may trigger a fine.
Procedures for Reporting Absence
